The Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) is a continental organisation made up of the Armed Forces of African Member countries. It is the African representation of the International Military Sports Council (CISM). OSMA has thus endorsed CISM's basic principles and motto:"Friendship through Sport" OSMA's main objective is to promote friendly sporting and physical training activities among the Armed Forces of member states, in order to foster the culture of peace needed for the economic development and the integration of the African continent. The Headquarters of OSMA is in YAOUNDE. Cameroon. OSMA was founded by Maj Gen Ishola Williams of Nigeria and Col Kalkaba Malboum of Cameroon. It is being adopted in 1994 at the 49th CISM General Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey. Its 1st General Assembly only took place on 25 March 2008, in Algiers, Algeria, under the high patronage of H.E. Abdelaziz Bouteflika President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The President of OSMA, Major General Maikano Abdullahi (Nig) in the prelude to the 8th OSMA Board of Directors Meeting which will be hosted by the Ghanian delegation next year, paid a curtsey visit to the Ghanian Military Autorities in a bit to promote the ideals of OSMA among the Authorities and also to prepare grounds for the smooth organisation of the forthcoming Board of Director’s meeting. This working visit is part of the President’s enlarged scheduled visits for the year 2024, which is aimed at sensitising and promoting OSMA values amongst the High Authorities of member countries to boost visibility and also incite a massive participation in the upcoming 2nd African Military Games in Abuja. From Ghana, the President will visit Burkina Faso, Tchad, Congo Republic before the end of the year. During his visit, he equally took the opportunity to visit the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Ghana in the person of Colonel David KABRE the former OSMA President.

FANCY GAMES LOGIN

The Solidarity Games of the Great Lakes Region is at its maiden edition and shall be hosted by the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa come August 2023. These games will rally military athletes from about 30 Countries and will include over 9 discipline. The Chief Delegates of the Democratic Republic of Congo said during the BOD Meeting in Yaounde that Kinshasa is ready to receive these games and a delegation of the OSMA executive is expected in Kinshasa in march for the inspection of the sporting infrastructure ahead of the games

OSMA was admitted into the African Union Sports Council during the Ministers of Sports Conference which held in Addis Abeba – Ethiopia in 2011. Since then OSMA is a privileged member of the Technical Committee on Sports For Development. From the 11 to 12 September 2023 OSMA participated in the Technical Committee on Sports for Developments meeting which was attended by more than 15 stakeholders promoting sports and development of sports around the continent.The Meeting was chaired by the coordinatior of the African Union Sports Commission whose headquarters in Yaounde. Discussions were focused on two themes. Sports Development Agenda for 2063 and Sports for Development Agenda 2063

The OSMA inspection team arrived Abuja on Sunday 22nd September for the inspection and evaluation of the sporting infrastructures to host the African Military Games 2024. The inspection proper started on Monday the 23rd with the visit to some military sporting facilities, which will host indoors and outdoors games. The sporting facilities visited actually meets the international norms and offer a varied range of quality facilities that meet the standards of high-level completions. On the second day, the evaluation team visited other sports facilities, health facilities and accommodation site, which is the luxury Abuja Continental. The followed the visit to the Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces to tender a report of the evaluation mission, The OSMA evaluation team ended their inspection mission on Thursday with the visit to Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The team brought to the Chief of Defence Staff a satisfactory report of the facility inspection, which was an overall positive. The Chief of Defence Staff promise all his support to the hosting of this major sporting event of OSMA come November and invites all African Armed forces to Visit Nigerian where they are going to be treated to first class African hospitality. As it stands, Nigeria is 100 percent ready to host the games in November .

The OSMA President and CISM Vice-President for Africa, Major General Maikano Abdullahi, accompanied by the Chief Delegate CISM/OSMA Nigeria AVM AT Marquis were bearers of a sealed invitation from the Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces addressed to the Founder of OSMA Colonel HAMAD KALKABA MALBOUM, to attend the 2nd African Military Games scheduled for Abuja come November 2024. Colonel Kalkaba Malboum, was so move by this mark of confidences bestowed on him and promise to attend this event come November. The handing of the invitation was covered live in Yaounde by the CRTV Sports and Cameroon Tribune. The President returns to Nigeria with a note of satisfaction on their mission to Yaounde. .

Tanzania organised the 79th CISM General Assembly and Congress in Dar es Salaam from the 12th to 19th May 2024, with over 80 member countries from around the group attending. The Assembly recorder a tremendous success and uplifted the honour of Africa as this is the most successful event organised on the African soil. The Continental meeting on the sideline of the 79th General Assembly and Congress was chaired by the current President Major General Maikano Abdullahi, and was ably assisted by the Secretary General Captain de Frégate DJENDOLA Pierre. The mandate of the President was renewed in Abuja by the a unanimous acclamation of the Delegates present. Amongst the resolutions taken in this meeting were, the confirmation of Major General Maikano Abdullahi as the CISM Vice-President for Africa, the election of Colonel Sisoko from Mali as CISM African Board of Directors member and the co-optation of General Nyowani from Zimbabwe as CISM African BOD Member for one year pending elections. The major activity on the calendar of activities this year be the 2nd African Military Games AMGA 2024 in Abuja. All is set to receive 54 African nations in Abuja come November for this sporting jamboree. .
